The artwork on my football represents the lightning that starts fires, like the passion and fire that energises our Indigenous sportsmen and women to be the best they can be at whatever they do.
Danella lives in Darwin, NT, and is of Larrakia, Wardaman & Karajarri decent. Danella started painting in her teens. She is a self-taught artist who loves to create art with natural materials such as wood, feathers, clay, bamboo and anything unusual that catches her attention. In 1996, Danella became the first Australian Indigenous woman to exhibit several of her paintings and sculptures in the Milano Arts Festival in Italy, and she sold most of her exhibit. Danella’s career spans 40 years and her art is now exhibited across Europe, America and Australia.
