Larrakia Country of The Gunimidjind (Saltwater People)
Denise Quall is a local Larrakia artist and a descendant of the Dangalaba Gulubiringin Clan. Passionate about art since she was a young girl, Denise was born in Darwin and grew up in the old Sydney William huts in Parap Camp. Denise’s art work includes the flora and fauna of the sea and land in Darwin and this is where most of her inspiration comes from. Today, she is world renowned for her public and private work. Denise’s projects include the Darwin International Airport, Lyons Community, Shell Supply Base, the Darwin CBD and Royal Darwin Hospital. In addition, Denise has created designs which were translated to laser cut steel art at Menzies Health. Denise also works in textiles, canvas and stone sculptures.
