This artwork represents Aboriginal peoples’ connectedness and strong ties to Country – ‘Jagun’. Country is fundamental to our identity and culture, and our lore and spirituality are intertwined with the land, the people and creation, and this forms our culture and sovereignty. The concentric circles symbolise these strong intertwined links between Country and all aspects of our existence – spirituality, culture, language, family, lore and identity. The travel lines represent our peoples’ journeys – people who have walked and lived in an intrinsic relationship with Country – both with the land and the ocean for thousands of generations.
