Philanthropic giving

GO started small and have only been able to grow into the scholarships organisation we are today because of the generosity, large and small, of people like you.  

Back in 2009 when I’d retired from footy and my brother Adam Goodes was still playing we started the Goodes O’Loughlin Foundation.  We knew we wanted to give back to the Community in Sydney because they’d always supported us when we played. 

We started with a health focus but thought we could do more and have a bigger impact through education. 

In 2014, we shifted the focus to education and I never stop being amazed that now we are supporting well over 600 students each year.  

The two of us could never have done that without the help of so many people and we thank all the donors who have given to us maybe once – you’ve done so much or those who have been walking alongside us for many years, giving to ensure that the organisation could survive and to give these kids the support they deserve.  

GO exists to ‘empower through education’. 

We’re an Aboriginal led and governed organisation, with strong Aboriginal leadership through our Chair, Sonja Stewart and our CEO, Charlene Davison. We have five deadly Aboriginal people who deliver the GO Program and work with the students.  

They’re out there in the schools and working with education providers, families and carers to provide pastoral support to the GO students that’s culturally appropriate.

Charlene and the team put culture first with everything they do. 

We celebrate First Nations excellence. We make sure our students have access to inspiring role models: “if you can see it, you can be it”.
