Our IMPACT

Our strength is in connecting students to their identity, their culture and the wider community as support for their educational goals.

Choice in education for Indigenous students

The GO Foundation exists to empower through education.

At GO we put culture at the heart of what we do. While school attendance and engagement with school work are important, our strength is in connecting students to their identity, their culture and the wider community as support for their educational goals.

Guided by Indigenous young people

Our young people guide our focus on:

  • supporting students in public education
  • the eldest child and role modelling – we celebrate Indigenous excellence and ensure GO students have access to inspiring Indigenous role models: ‘if you can see it, you can be it’
  • awarding 60% of our scholarships to girls, in part acknowledging the importance of Aboriginal women in our communities.

To empower students to pursue their aspirations with confidence and resilience, we provide:

  • culturally responsive personal support
  • opportunities they might not otherwise be able to access
  • use of education essentials.

As a result, students are more equipped to choose their futures and reach their potential.

of scholarships awarded to girls

  • 75% of applicants indicate that the cultural component of the GO Program is what they were most interested in
  • more than half of GO students aspire to attend university
  • GO scholars had a 96% completion rate of Year 12
  •  94% of scholarships were provided to students in public education
  • 39 students are supported on university scholarship

We see our impact through:

  • cultural identity and pride in their Indigenous heritage
  • engagement and success at school
  • engagement and progress in further education and employment pathways
  • participation and connection in professional and other networks and communities, both Indigenous-specific and more widely.

GO scholarships get greater impact for students because they provide wrap-around support, bringing together the people involved with a student’s care including:

  • our scholarships team of Aboriginal people who deliver the program
  • education providers
  • families and carers.

Success in education

Success in education is about more than schoolwork. Our support carries through every part of a student’s life so they have the space to focus on their education goals.

54% of GO's Year 11 and 12 students would like to attend university

We’d like to one day support every GO student who chooses to go to university with a scholarship.

Help us have greater impact
